From the President - February 2023

A FIVE POINTS NEWSLETTER!

The Board of Directors of the Five Points Development Association is pleased to announce the launch of a newsletter to keep its members informed about issues affecting the business climate and quality of life in the Five Points neighborhood. We’ll also tell you about Association happenings.

In this inaugural column, I want to tell you about what I believe is one of the chief benefits of membership in the Five Points Development Association and that is our monthly meetings and its programs.

Let me pose a few questions for your consideration. What’s going to happen with the proposed freeway changes and how will those changing traffic patterns affect you? What’s going to happen with property valuations this year? What‘s going to happen to property taxes? What about water rates and storm water plans? What happens when the police department leaves?

Your Five Points Development Association has addressed all of these issues and more with its speakers. We have had the mayor,  the Chief Appraiser of CAD, the CEO of El Paso Water, representatives of TXDOT, the County Commissioner of our Precinct, City Representative for District 2, the Assistant City Manager in charge of Streets, Sun Metro and Environmental Services, the city’s Chief Financial Officer, the Police Chief and many others speak to us. Where else can you have an opportunity to hear plans for our future, ask questions of the decision makers and get to speak to them one-on-one about your issues and in so doing build relationships that will help you resolve future plans and problems.

THIS IS ONE POWERFUL TOOL! And it’s all available to you as a member of the Five Points Development Association. All you have to do is take the time for a one-hour lunch once a month. HOW CAN YOU NOT AFFORD THE TIME?

We’ll look for you at noon next Wednesday, February 15th at Timo’s, 2000 Montana.
